She's growing up...

Justin was talking to Katie a few days ago and needing to discipline. He told her that she may not understand everything and therefore needs to ask us questions about how to do things, etc.
She looked very seriously at him and said, "Daddy, I don't know HOW to grow up."
Justin then told her that is why God gave her a mommy and daddy. So that they could help teach, train and love her.
Ahhh...sweet teaching moment.

And she LOVES this baby doll. It is her "sister". It goes EVERYWHERE with us. She wears all of Owen's clothes, gets nursed by Katie and needs rocked and cuddled with. Last weekend, Justin and Katie were outside and Katie asked Justin if he could hold Magnolia because she was a bit fussy and needed to be calmed down. Ha! What a little momma!

Katie, has done an exceptional job at welcoming Owen into our home. One of the best things is that she and her daddy have gotten some fun play time.

Here they are on "Katie's Park".

Then yesterday Justin and Katie went on a Daddy date. They went to the pet store, library, grocery store for me, and Chic-Fil-A.

Katie was determined to have a date at Chic-Fil-A. She has been asking to go there ever sense seeing a video of her friend Catie Beth's date with her daddy (who went to Chic-Fil-A). I guess Chic-Fil-A is THE place to be for dates. They got to share french fries for a treat.

*Story-So, Katie took the last two fries, but after Daddy asked for a last fry too, she quietly dipped it in the Ketchup and then put it in Justin's mouth. Ohhh...Precious.

And at home Owen and Momma spent sometime sleeping, eating and making a pumpkin pie cake-pretty much like a pumpkin bread-that I was dying for!

Katie says, "worth a photo".

I guess katie knows that I take photos of anything worthy of remembering or maybe I simply take WAY to MANY photos....But katie thought her putting down all 8 of her babydolls and one teddy bear was memorable. :) "Say cheese babies!" said Katie. (which how can they say cheese if they are asleep and on their tummies...hehehe)

Jesus

Katie, "Momma, did you get an ouchy?"

Momma, "Yes, but Jesus is healing my wounds."

Katie, "No, Jesus is taking a shower."

Momma, "Why is he taking a shower?"

Katie, "He was on a run."

Where did she come up with this? I have no idea.
Jesus also hides under her blanket. So since Jesus can be everywhere I guess He is where ever Katie wants Him to be. We are working on her theology of Jesus being always present. :)

Katie, "Jesus is healing my bug bites."

Momma, "Yes, Katie He is!"

Katie, "Please Jesus don't heal my freckles, I want them."

Katie received a package in the mail from Nana and Papa on Wednesday and she was EXCITED!
She was blessed with two new shirts and shorts, a box of hop hops (cheddar bunnies), two tootsie roll suckers, bracelets and new PJ's.
She was uber excited to show everything to anyone in the house and has worn her PJ's every night so far.
Here she is sporting them!
Then there were two very adorable outfits for the little guy. This is one of my favorite clothing items yet for him. I can't believe he will be here in Oct and then wearing this next spring!
Thanks Nana and Papa, it was a huge treat!

Oh and when telling Justin about her suckers this is her pronouncement said with HUGE eyes and her mouth in an O shape. "Daddy, Nana sent me two suck-poppers!" :)

A "Moker"?

Katie loves to hold her "Moker".

What is a "Moker" you ask? It is a simple, batteries removed, remote control. Anytime a video or the TV is on, she is asking to hold her "Moker", pushing the buttons and trying to change the volume or channel etc. You would think that we have it on a lot, but that is not the case. So I guess for her to hold her own remote control is special and makes her just like her parents!

She has now taken this a bit farther and gives "Moker" high fives. She will take her "Moker" and make sure you have one too, then high five you.

"Moker five Momma, Moker five Daddy," Katie says as we bang together our remote controls.

What a trip!

Two Katie stories

Katie at 24 months is a parrot these days, repeating EVERYTHING that we say. It humble us parents knowing we need to diligently watch what we are saying! :)

Momma-"Tell Daddy love you and bye bye" as Justin left for work the other morning.

Katie-"Love you babe. Love you babe." as she ran down the driveway.

And the other night...

Daddy-"Tell Momma you love her." As I was leaving so Justin could read her a few books and put her down for the night.

Katie-"Love you babe. Love you babe."

I guess we use babe sometimes! I would not have thought that at all.


Katie is also learning how to pray and ask the Lord for things she needs or wants. We want her to look to God for her provider in life.

Katie-"Momma, outside to play?"

Momma-"Katie it is raining. I can't stop the rain. You can pray and ask if God would stop the rain so we can go outside and play."

Katie-"Okay God, two minutes? two minutes."

She wanted to give God two minutes to stop the rain! I guess this as well shows that we give her time frames on things. Now she has time frames on God!

Katie wants to go bye bye...

When asked where she would like to go this morning she replied, "Georgia" (the state).

So here's to all your Georgia dwellers...."Georgia is happy!"

Can you give yourself a high five?

Katie Story...

Katie has been doing high fives for a handful of months now. But this past week Justin was playing a game with Katie like this..."give me a high five up high, on the side, down low...oh, too slow!" (I am sure many of you played this in elementary school or with your parents-I played a ton of times with my dad!) Katie has taken to this game and has slowly understood the concept of trying to hit his hands BEFORE he moves it away. Justin lets her get his hands every few times.

Well, during dinner one night, while Katie was sitting in her chair, Justin nudges me to look over at Katie. Here is what we saw...Katie was concentrating very intently on her hands...Her eyes were glued to her two hands as she was trying to play "high fives" by herself! She especially was trying the down low high five...oh, too slow! She was taking one hand and trying to "trick" the other hand to not hit the low five. Just like Justin does with her!

Morning Requests...

 

So...Katie has been waking up happy...for that I am glad...but along with happy she has started to make a few requests in the morning.

Saturday morning at 6:29 am, calling from her crib... "Mama, Daddy, Mama, Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Daddy, KK Up please, up please" Justin goes to gets she up and as he is walking into the room she says, "Pnckes? Coffee?"

Sunday morning at 6:33 am, calling from her crib..."Mama, Mommy, Mommy, Daddy, Daddy, Mama, Up..." Justin again goes and gets her up and as he is walking into her roon, he hears, "Waffles! Waffles! Please?"

Today at 6:03 am, calling from her crib... "Mama, Mommy, KK Up, KK Up, Please?!, Mama, Mama, Mama" Again Justin goes to get her and this mornings request? "Chicken!"

Oh, what a riot!

Not a false potty alarm!

Katie, by herself, has sorta announced several times she has to go "stinky". Mostly because I have asked her as I watch her face grimace or smell her diaper-you parents know what "look" I am talking about....(And so I remember, I have not officially tried to start potty training yet, she is 20 months old.)

But tonight...

THIS IS BIG PROGRESS. Tonight on her own, while she was standing and playing, she said, "stinky". I am amazed that she is picking this up.

We have been putting her on the toilet before her bath time for a few months now and she knows to go "tinkle" on the potty, but stinky?? That has been a different story. It has been a literal mess trying to every once in a while get her to understand, stinky goes IN the potty. Yuck!

But tonight, on her own, she was standing playing and said, "Stinky".

I picked her up and moved rather quickly back to the bathroom, where she went! (On a side note, it was hysterically funny-she was so animated and dramatic!)

Yeah for Katie...

Now I am ready for all the "false" alarms that I know for SURE to start coming...before naps, while in the car, during dinner... :) I think I better start to read up on potty training!

Pronuncation by a 19 month old...

One Cute Story...

While checking out the house next door for a family-Katie desperately tried to get my attention to go and get something...here goes...

Katie, "Mama, Fok?"

Me, "hummm, say it again Katie."

Katie a bit frustrated, but excited, "Fok!"

Me, "Fok?"

Katie's head is tilted slightly as she looks me in my eyes, "Fok, Yes!"

Me, "Oh, Would you like to see the fox stuffed animal?"

Katie, "Yes!"

Me, "Oh Whew...I am glad she didn't pick up another word!"


And another sweet story...

I was getting dinner ready for Katie and I had her in her chair. My back was turned, but I heard... "God, blab, ehid, lirgti, thankyou, amen" As I turned around I caught Katie with her hands folded and head bowed. She was praying on her own for dinner. I guess she figured she could eat as soon as I set her plate on her tray if she went ahead and prayed by herself-otherwise she would have had to wait for me to come and pray with her. :)

Two Katie Stories....

Money See, Monkey Do....18 months

1. Justin and I were straightening up the house one weekend, and we noticed that it was awfully quiet...so as any good parents would do, we dropped everything and went to find our adventurous 18 month old. Justin came upon her in the hallway with her teddy bear on the ground. She has been desiring to have all her toys in diapers, and Ted was no exception. Except this time, Katie had taken off Ted's diaper and found the thermometer we use when she is sick. Can you tell where this story is going? As Justin watched she was trying to take the bears temperature! She was putting the thermometer up the bears bottom! We could not believe it. I never would have thought that she understood what we were doing when she was sick when we'd try to find out if she had a fever...but I guess she is way smarter then I even know!

2. Katie LOVES to look around our property for the Canadian Geese "Honkers" and also the deer. Justin will take her on tractor rides and they will go searching for any animals that are brave enough to be in the open. One day as we were swinging on the swing set Justin asked Katie if she saw any deer. She thought and looking around really intently said, "no" as if she really knew what she was looking for! She looked just like a mini adult as she pondered his question. But I guess again she understands way more then we give her credit for!
