Thanksgiving Eve Cereal!

It Was A Thankful Day

Though thanksgiving this year was quiet and we stayed around our home, it still was a great day and one we were thankful that God gave each of us!  

We wrote thankful leaves throughout the week, ate our cereal for our Eve tradition, made a new recipe for pumpkin pie/custard that is beyond delicious and other yummy foods, watched the Macy's Day parade, played and facetimed our family which we miss dearly!  

Katie, Owen and Daddy, I am so thankful for you all and love you each to the moon and back!

Choo Choo-All Aboard!

What a fun new tradition to add to our holidays.  Thanks to pinterest and other friends for posting their Polar Express Christmas Light ideas we joined in on the fun!  

I have to admit that I didn't print or make any cute tickets...that we decided to do this last minute...but it didn't matter, the kids loved it!

 All Aboard!  The conductor will now punch your tickets, please!

A Fall Favorite

To me there is nothing better in the fall then picking apples.  We've made it a tradition every year for the past four to head west to Sky Top Orchards! This year we veered a little bit on our way home from Atlanta to stop and enjoy all the fall festivities.  

At first, we were bummed.  As we drove up the mountain (since it is 1 mile up) it began to sprinkle and the clouds/fog were thick.  But that didn't last long!  And though it was never entirely clear it was dry enough to go pick.  And again we hit it just right to pick Pink Lady apples.  Wahooooo!

I highly recommend this orchard to anyone wanting to pick or buy apples.  They also have apple desserts, cider-delicious, homemade donuts, jams, pumpkins, playgrounds, tractor rides...people come from all over the close states to have a family fun time.  

A New Thanksgiving Tradition

Justin bought me this book by Noel Piper. Treasuring God in our Traditions. An encouraging read-pretty fast read-yes, I recommed it. Though this tradition I am blogging about doesn't seem to have God in it, it does! This is a fun thing that points to the fact that God wants our family to have fun and be joyful. These cereals sure do bring a lot of energy to everyone, especially Katie! We will see how well she sleeps... :)

But here is our new tradition. The night before Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve we eat cereal for dinner-we choose a our own box (oh the memories Kix brings from Childhood). We are doing this in prepration for all the yummy foods we eat on the actual holiday!

Justin braved the long lines at Harris Teeter to buy four boxes of cereal. He did get some funny looks. He brought these home and we devored our individual bowls in about 20 minutes. I think I ate 3 bowls!
