It's a CHRISTmas party!

It was a Merry Christmas Party for Owen! Owen, we are super excited we got to attend your festivities. :) The class played games, decorated cookies, did crafts, made their teachers into snowmen and reindeer and laughed the whole way through! What a fun class you have, Owen!

Love you more then the whole wide world--tie!

Happy Birthday to you!
Dear Owen, We had such a fun day yesterday celebrating your 4 full years of life and welcoming in your 5th! You started your day with a smile and ended it just the same.  Breakfast with Daddy was a huge treat.  Presents as soon as you got home got your playtime off with a bang.  Katie made you your own birthday ribbon and we played for over four hours at Hill Ridge Farms.  You received many cards and videos stating Happy Birthday for family and friends.  Then we made homemade cheese pizza and sang to you over your chocolate chip cookie with candles.  It was a fantastic day!

A few things we love about you at this stage...

1. You have a servants heart and love to serve!
2. You love your morning routine-get dressed, make your bed, brush your teeth, gather the garden harvest-which are our tomatoes.
3. You are willing to play almost anything Katie asks you to play and you can play on your own.  We love listening to you right now talk to your cars and stuffed animals.
4. You have a very real sense of justice and you are working on self control when things don't seem fair.
5. Your cowlick is awesome.
6. Somedays you look just like Daddy and other days we can see Mommy's brother Uncle Tommy.  You are a good mix of both Mommy and Daddy, though right now your personality seems to be a lot of Daddy, taking care of things, relating to people and serving, working hard to get things right...
7. You sleep pretty well these days.
8. You are creative and love to either be building things or tearing them down to see how they work.
9. If you could you would dig, dig, dig an underground fort.
10. Working outside is one of your favorite things to do.  Along with trains, cars, Legos, playing animals, Marble Run-which you just received, and sports activities.
11. You enjoy doing school and work at things methodically.
12. Curious George and Handy Manny are two of your favorite cartoons.
13. You are not a fan of anything even remotely scary right now.
14. You enjoy almost anything to eat, though sweet treats aren't always at the top of your list.
15. Push ups (just like Daddy) for exercise along with running, skipping, bike ridding and playing anything sports related are part of most days.
16. You are quick to obey instruction unless you find things unjust in your eyes or you are tired.
17. You give great hugs.
18. Friends right now, Katie!, Bryce Burton, Noah Beaver, Durham Wood, Quentin, Evy Muse, Addy Kelly and Wil Pollinger...plus all of Katie's friends (Catie Beth Muse, Jo-Lydia-Chloe Burton and Annie Lou Pollinger).  There isn't someone you don't want to play with!  And if Paxton Herrs or Silas Dulan were closer your cousins would be favorites too!
19. You are confident to join into any activity-at the playground and with kids you don't know or at church with a game that has already started.  You jump right in and play!
20. We LOVE you, Owen Bradley Hime and you love us.

Owen, "We love you more then the whole wide world" is something that we say each night.  You then always responds with the same sentence finishing with "tie".  I pray this sentence will always be in our home because it is true, true, true!

Good Morning, Mr. Five year old!

Thank you, Beavers, for coming on our play adventure!

This happens a lot these days.  Katie+Camera+her smile=priceless
Whatcha thinking little Ansley?  I think we wore you out! We do love your pigtales.
 That tongue...that tongue.
I feel like this could be a senior photo.  Oh, stop growing little guy!  :)

 Happy Birthday To You!

I Spy a...marble run, sequence board game, Toby the train, work clothes, birthday balloon, foam football=lots and lots of fun new gifts! Thanks to Nana/Papa, Mimi/Grandpa, Cousin Paxton & Elijah!
LOVE YOU OWEN!

Another Parade Adventure

We headed downtown, after soccer, to the St. Paddy's Day Parade and the kids enjoyed it so much.
It's becoming a fun family thing to do...hit up the parades around town!  There is normally a spot to be found to sit and watch.  Its a fun atmosphere and if the weather is nice-which it was, we enjoyed being outside!
It is a fun parade with a bunch of crazy entries.
Grandmas twirling batons
Extreme Roller Derby Team
Helping Hands Missions Band and Dancing Team
Mermaids
Old Cars
Beautiful Horses
It warms my heart to see Owen run out into the street fetching parade treasures for Katie. Awesome job buddy! #himetime #nextgenmen

Welcome to Our Photo Shoot...

Taken by the creative, joyful, talented and always laughing-KristinShyla. (go on over to her blog, you won't be disappointed!)
Kristin-Thank you, Thank you, Thank you-for serving, loving, laughing, smiling, enjoying, believing and photographing!
Here are the some of the rest of our shoot, I mean Kristin took about 500 photos.  :)
I don't want to forget these days.
And these days that are flying by...
I want to remember that we do have more laughing, smiling, joyful days then challenging, fall on the floor in despair days (though they do exist).
We have GREAT kids that love each other and us and anyone that comes into our house.
We are still in love, best friends and want to be more so! after almost 12+ years of marriage-meeting when we were the wee age of 16. :)
The Lord has put us in Raleigh and we really enjoy this city.
Our life is FUN!  We do fun things.  We explore the outdoors and indoors of Raleigh and the East coast. What a blessing!
We enjoy being silly/crazy and need to do it more often.
Our little boy is 4.5 and growing up way to quickly for us. He's honest, a natural helper, struggles when he can't get things right, he's full of energy, creative, loves to give hugs and wants to wrestle or work with Daddy as much as possible-after all Daddy is his first hero.
Katie, oh Katie Grace...why are you growing up too?  You are 6.5, creative, love to sing songs, twirl around and create a story, you're intuitive, have a million and one things going on at once, detest putting away your clothes, love to read, love to color/draw and could snuggle at anytime of the day or night.
And finally, I want to remember who freely gives joy and life, thats what makes us honestly happy.  May we all find JOY in Jesus for life that is truly life and for freedom that is truly free.
