"I'm living a dream"

Owen said he wanted to eat more then his strong Daddy. His dream came true the other night! :) Owen, you ate more then your daddy with two sandwiches, fruit salad and a bowl of cereal! We know God is growing you up to be big and strong!

"I'm so disappointed"

Owen has been asking how he gets to sleep in our room.  We've told the kids that they may, at any time, when they have a bad dream or are scared, bring their blanket and pillow and sleep on the floor. I remember doing this in my parents room and it was always comforting. Or for me my sister would crawl into bed with me and we'd sleep together, right Pie

Last week around 3 am, I wake up to little feet walking down the hall and then hear Owen's sniffle sniffle.  I got out of bed quickly and asked, what's wrong, buddy?  He said in a loud sad whisper, "I'm never going to have a dream bad enough to get to sleep on your floor!"

I smiled on the inside and said he is always welcomed to bring his stuff and sleep on our floor.  But his little mind knew what I had said and was so sad he doesn't have bad dreams.  I did tell him I was so thankful he doesn't have any night terrors and that I was super glad he got to sleep with Clifford back in his comfy bed.

-update...two days later I had a snuggle bunny in bed with us  :) he said he had had a bad dream.  And then the next day he was in a snuggle pocket by our bed on the floor when I woke up.  :)

It's Going Well

Owen and Daddy were discussing what his Bible lessons were at school and he said they were studying Genesis.
Owen- "You know, daddy, we are studying creation, you know God created the heavens and the earth".
Daddy- "Are you memorizing Genesis 1:1?"
Owen- "yes".
Daddy-"How does it go?" Expecting him to say the memorized verse.
Owen- "It's going well".
Ha, that boy is so literal.

"I love these peaches," you say.  Owen, buddy, for the hundredth time, that. is. a. mango.
Owen, you use "peach" to describe mangos AND peaches and you have for your whole life.
We love this quarky mix up!
PS...in the photo, you look so much like daddy!

Owen

Owen,

You are so stinkn' cute!  Your words come tumbling out and you put together the best phrases.

Currently you love to call your head, your "noggin".

"My noggin hurts, Mommy." "Katie hit me in the noggin!" "Did the stick scratch my noggin?"

Today while you and Katie were playing you said, "Just kiss them on the forenoggin!" It took me a second, but Daddy helped me understand you were referring to kissing them on the forehead!

7:36 this morning

Owen, sweet boy, you scared us this morning.  Daddy was taking a splinter out of your finger, which you got from a bridge on a walk and then....you had a vega response!
(Probably your blood sugar plummeted.)

You slumped onto the cabinet door and then the bathroom floor and for about 10 seconds kept saying, "I don't know, I don't know." Your eyes were open, but you couldn't focus or understand us.  Daddy, picked you up and you felt like dead weight. We kept talking to you and took you outside for colder air and slowly you came around. You were exhausted and barely able to stay awake, but could tell us your name, count to 21 and sing Jesus Loves Me.  We were SO thankful!

We called Ms. Tamera and she came over to check on you, since she is a nurse and then we, just to be sure, went to Stepping Stones Ped. to have them check on you.  You checked out, "back to normal"! Thankful!  We played eye spy, ate a granola bar and back home we went.

We are Very Very Thankful to Jesus that Daddy was home, that you are SAFE AND WELL, that we have a Dr. and neighbors to visit and that you are now back to playing with toys, singing some made up song.

We love you Owen!

Note to self....do not take a splinter out of a finger before breakfast-without food in the tummy...just incase. :)

Learning Football

Last Saturday we turned on the Alabama vs Ole Miss football game and if we could have recorded the last 7 minutes we would have in a heart beat.  A few quotes from the last few minutes...

Owen-
Owen yelling back to Katie, giving her updates about the football game. "KATIE, they just got a home run!"

Seriously talking to Justin, "Daddy, don't you think that is really nice for that guy to hold the ball (for the extra kick :) while the other man kicks?

Owen looking afraid and amazed, "Daddy, if we were on the first row could we jump the fence and run onto the field???"

Katie-
Laughing hysterically as people rush the field after Ole Miss won, "Daddy, what are they doing? They are trying to jump and push down the poles!"

Determination

Its raining kiddos and yet you insist on a picnic.  It'll be fun you say! Pack our salads and toast and please can we eat on the front porch? Finally, I say sure and off you both go.  We are so happy you enjoy fun adventures like picnics in the rain. And that you enjoy it together!

Tee ball back seat conversations

I want to play tee ball for my next sport with my birthday money because I am a strong hitter and maybe hit it over the fence. I'm fast at running and I'm sneaky. When I'm on base, I can sneak between bases if I get stuck on a base. I want to sneak away from the base if they have that rule. I would also like the pitching position.  It would be a little hard to do a fast ball. I am going to have so much goodness. -says katie
And I can throw a fast ball. I just turn my head and turn my back and step and throw fast.  I want to grow up and do baseball and not softball. Do know what position I want to be in? I want to be a pitcher. -commented Owen

Kid quotes from the back seat

Katie-
Owen I just want to give you a little advice.  Don't watch, "How to Train a Dragon", because its a little too scary.  Its not too scary, but you shouldn't watch it because it is a little bit to much with the fire dragon. But the fire dragon doesn't last long though.

I don't want to not watch Jesus music, but I wouldn't mind watching something else too. -this is after they listened to the music DVD, over and over for 1.5 hours.  :) And Owen and she said repeatedly they love singing and reading the words as they belt out these tunes in the back seat.

Owen

Owen-"I don't like it when everything is sleeping (i.e. dormant) it just doesn't look very inviting."  But Owen, winter has a beauty all it's own.  "I know I just don't understand it."
And then I :).

Owen says

The post below is first from the eyes of Mommy and then Daddy.
Either way we love this guy.

Tonight during story time, Owen and Katie both asked if I could rub their back or neck. To which Justin responded, "Is it a Mommy Spa Night?".  Owen's response was priceless..."But Daddy, it feels like eating a piece of chocolate!"

Each evening we have the privilege of sitting with the kids and enjoying a story or two. Tonight for the first time Owen requested a back rub from his mommy. During the back-rub, in a style all his own, Owen remarked, "it feels like eating a piece of chocolate." And then he sat motionless enjoying the comfort that only mommies can give. ‪#‎meltinginyourhands‬

Kid quotes

1. Owen, what high school sports would you like to do someday?
Humm, an announcer! And then each day I will play tee ball one day, then baseball, then basketball.

2. Katie and how about you? I want to play tee ball and maybe be a cheerleader.

3. Owen also told me that he wanted to practice basketball everyday and get good until he is old...like when he is 13.

4. And we also told Owen tonight, please stop licking arm. Really?? I can't believe we said that sentence to our kids.

IF

we were trying to arrange a marriage...we'd love to have Evy become a Hime!
A few weeks ago at church the kids were standing up on the chairs singing together during worship.  As I looked back Evy and Owen were holding hands and looking SOOOOooooo cute.  Excuse the phone photo, but I just had to post this.  These little moments steal my heart.

Then at a previous workday at church, the two olders were off playing and 'trying' to help as the little worked away!  Hunter and Justin said that it was a bit of choas with all 4 kids outside helping.  But with just the two littles, it was perfect!  I think again it goes to show that Evy and Owen might be meant to be. :D
