I think I could write a few pages on our experience this fall in the mountains. First off, it would be writing about all the fun we had being with super, duper, wonderful, years upon years, friends! Another page would be how we experienced the beauty of the mountains inbetween patches of dense fog or rain. And finally I would write about the growing friendships of Katie and Catie Beth and Owen and Evy. Even after days of being together (they did have their moments) they still wanted to be a quad. I'm glad they are friends. I'm glad we are friends with Robin-Bee and H-Dog. :) I'm glad we have years behind us and can travel together.
We used to travel and eat dinner together every. single. week. Then, God gave us each beautiful kids and now we try to get in good conversations over settling disputes, helping our kids learn manners, laughing at their silliness, playing telephone, etc. Justin and I think the only thing we would love to do next time different is pray for no rain and rent a house together. (The small apts we each had were lovely and cosy though!) I don't know how many times we heard, "Can we go to their room and see them? Can we watch cartoons together? Can we ride together in the same car? Can we wear matching clothes? We WANT to be with our FRIENDS!" We think that maybe by being in the same house in a future holiday we might give them their space as kids a little bit easier. Plus, we'd get some good uninterrupted conversations between adults after lights out. :)
As you scan or we look back at these photos in years to come I kept most of them in here because of facial expressions. There are crystal clear eyes and eyes you could fall into because they are so deep. There are funny giggling expressions. There are contemplative moments and ones that shout love. Whatever the emotion you feel, I pray we remember these photos are part of the story of our life. I hope you each get these wonderful chapters with friends and beauty.
But without anymore pages of writing-here is our trip.
