It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. 40 acres needs a HORSE! Yep we got one!

Well, here is our new friend. Her name is Butterscotch and she is a shetland pony. :) We thought about how we could best use our 40 acres and decided to buy a pony. She is wonderful. And is very tame and loves Katie.!! Katie was a bit unsure about her at first, but has warmed right up! She is great. If any of you want to come over and ride her, she can handle up to 40 pounds. :)

PS...Steve from the office thought Katie would love to have this huge, mechanical pony! This large stuffed horse is amazing! Though it is fake...(did I have anybody thinking it was real?? :)...it can eat a carrot, Katie can brush its mane, it moves its tail, Katie can ride it, it can whinny and move its head from side to side. It also responds to your voice and many other things! Sabrina, that lives with us, thinks its creepy as it already whinnied at her and scared her silly!...but Katie LOVEs IT! SO a big thank you to Steve, Brian, Will and Pam for thinking of us! Thanks for passing along the joy...Butterscotch loves her new pasture!

Hi Mimi and Aunt Pie

Dear Mimi and Aunt Pie,
Thank you for coming out to play with me and to see my mommy and daddy!! It was very fun to have you both here! Can you believe how big I have grown? Before you know it I'll be driving my own car! Thanks for playing outside, inside, in the car, in my room, even at the park. Hopefully my mommy can get more photos from you, Aunt Pie, of other things we did, like play at the park!

Well, it is past my bed time...mommy doesn't know I am blogging right now. I better go.
Love, XOXOXO Katie Grace Hime

I guess you could say we think alike....

Katie's First Trip To The Beach!

We decided to make Father's Day our first mini vacation of the year and our destination was Wrightsville Beach, NC. We had a ball of a time. I did not know that we would need to take SO much stuff, but we did. It all fit in our black honda and the two hour trip was made. On the way down there Katie was a bit fussy, but did take a short nap. On our way back, (with a Starbucks coffee and Katie snoozing within five minutes), it was pretty nice and relaxing. The wagon (thanks Nana and Papa) was a huge help and Katie's smiles made it all worthwhile.
A few highlights...Katie wanted and did eat a lot of sand. She loved the ocean, but with the tide she wasn't strong enough to stand up without our help. She loved walking by herself and falling since the sand gives. She ate her first peanutbutter and jelly and LOVED it. She kept her hat on almost all the time. All in all a very great trip!

We simply love her like crazy...sandy and all!

The End of Fun at the beach for Daddy's day

Katie LOVED her beach toys, thank you so much for her bday gift Aunt Jessa and Uncle Dustin. I think she enjoyed dumping the water out as much as using each toy!

"Boy," Katie thought, "Stomping around in the waves and sand is so much fun, I better stick my tongue out to prove my sassiness!"

A much needed though with crazy hair by me family photo!

All in a days work...sacked out...

It was a wonderful day at the beach. It is very different going there with a one year old then just a couple. No more reading books, or people watching or sunning my toes. Katie was everywhere and into everything. It was a blessing to see this experience through her eyes. No doubt, we are going back soon! And we will have different expectations, simply have fun and play in the sand or water. Oh and eat sand if Katie asks us to. :)

THANK YOU MS. JAE (and Jillian and Maddie)

So Katie every season or so gets a box from a great friend from college, who has four kids, two of them girls. They are SO kind to send Katie a box FULL of clothes. The outifts are always SO welcomed and always right on time for a seasonal wardrobe change. I know that kids grow at all different rates, but our little one is in 18 months to 24 months clothing right now and she is 13 months old!!

Katie also has a fettish with shoes right now. ...Always wanting to put her shoes on. The second photo is her choice of shoes and the last photo is all the great clothes she is now wearing!

Thank you Jae, Maddie and Jillian for being so generous and helpful to us. We love you guys and hope someday to work it out to see you all.
Love from NC to LA

When shopping with a baby, pay attention to what you are getting off the shelf!

I meant to pick up green chilies...but instead I got jalapenos! I put the WHOLE can in my chicken dish and just in the very nic of time I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the level of heat said HOT on the side of the container. I picked EVERYONE of these out!!!! Yes, it was still edible. Thankgoodness I found out before I ate it. If you know me...I can't stand much spicy food. This would have potentially killed my taste buds.
Lesson learned! Double check what I pick up from the grocery shelf!

Our little run away!

So Katie decided at 12 months to run away from home. She did get a little side tracked at looking at the bug crawling across the driveway.
Then when I said it was time for her bath, she decided that a bath sounded more fun and turned around to come home. We had a celebration for her with an extra long bath time-just like the Bible the daughter/son returns home to the Father and they celebrated ! :)
