A "Moker"?

Katie loves to hold her "Moker".

What is a "Moker" you ask? It is a simple, batteries removed, remote control. Anytime a video or the TV is on, she is asking to hold her "Moker", pushing the buttons and trying to change the volume or channel etc. You would think that we have it on a lot, but that is not the case. So I guess for her to hold her own remote control is special and makes her just like her parents!

She has now taken this a bit farther and gives "Moker" high fives. She will take her "Moker" and make sure you have one too, then high five you.

"Moker five Momma, Moker five Daddy," Katie says as we bang together our remote controls.

What a trip!

Celebrating a job well done on landscaping

Tracy, Beth, Justin and I all went out on Saturday (thanks to Julia and JoJo for watching Katie :) She LOVES you guys!) to Brasa in Brier Creek. It was DELICIOUS! If you've never been it is worth a date night. It is a Brazilian steakhouse with a terrific salad bar, like nothing I had experience and all the meat you could eat. There were 14 different types of meat that one could try. We ate our fill of lamb, Mignon, chicken, sausage, tenderloin, prime rib... I think I ate a few pounds myself!
Then to top it off we had grilled pineapple with Cinnamon. It is a fantastic experience!
Mckenzies-Your yard looks great and we are glad to have helped! Let's go on another date soon! Thanks for the treat. :)
Oh and the last photo of the four of us is just like one we took 8 years ago. WOW, what a great friendship, one that has lasted since college! I wish I could find that old photo and compare. Maybe I will soon.
Love to all 6 of your fam!

A log cabin renewed with LOTS of hard work

For the past approx. two years the Mckenzies have worked without stop to redo their landscaping. Justin, Katie and I have helped when we could with many other people too. It was worth every minute, because the outcome is fantastic.
See if you don't agree!

Going to KS in Green Style.

SO.....this is WAY late in being posted, since we visited KS a month ago to see our family and to celebrate Dorian's graduation, but here it is.
Dorian-We are so proud of all that you accomplished and the talents that Jesus has given you. We are looking forward to seeing, reading and hearing all about your basketball playing days at Colorado State University. :)
As for the rest of the clan. Hopefully we will see you all soon!
Hugs, NC 4
PS the music is a little lame, I couldn't get any of our music to upload.

Going to KS!

We were in KS for a week and got to see the Stein Clan!
Love you, Mimi, Grandpa, Aunt Jessa, Uncle Dustin and Uncle Tommy

Katie's First Haircut

Brandy, Justin's sister, who is a wonderful stylist cut Katie's hair for her birthday. She did a great job, shaping it and getting back to a cutie pie style. She cut off abut 3 inches...wow at two years old! Now when I do her hair it is soft and frames her face well. :)

Aunt Brandi, Thank you SO much for cutting my hair. It looks super and I love you! Maybe next time I see you, you can cut it again and also paint my toes-I like both, my hair and pink toes!
Love, Katie

And thanks to Daddy who let Katie sit on his lap and watch "Dave and the Giant Pickle."

Dear Grandpa Hime,

I love you! I am sorry that we were busy running all over KS and didn't get to see you more! You are a great grandpa and I hope we can get some more time to play with my baby dolls and maybe even go to the park. Thank you so much for being there when you were to take us from the airport and back. Breakfast was also very yummy-I love muffins!
I can't wait to see you again.
Love, Katie

Two Katie stories

Katie at 24 months is a parrot these days, repeating EVERYTHING that we say. It humble us parents knowing we need to diligently watch what we are saying! :)

Momma-"Tell Daddy love you and bye bye" as Justin left for work the other morning.

Katie-"Love you babe. Love you babe." as she ran down the driveway.

And the other night...

Daddy-"Tell Momma you love her." As I was leaving so Justin could read her a few books and put her down for the night.

Katie-"Love you babe. Love you babe."

I guess we use babe sometimes! I would not have thought that at all.

Katie is also learning how to pray and ask the Lord for things she needs or wants. We want her to look to God for her provider in life.

Katie-"Momma, outside to play?"

Momma-"Katie it is raining. I can't stop the rain. You can pray and ask if God would stop the rain so we can go outside and play."

Katie-"Okay God, two minutes? two minutes."

She wanted to give God two minutes to stop the rain! I guess this as well shows that we give her time frames on things. Now she has time frames on God!

Happy Birthday Camiryn Jae!

Dear Cuz,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY...well HAPPY BIRTHDAY yesterday! I am so excited for you to have a special day. I hope it was the best day ever. We definitely need to get together to play sometime soon, I can't believe you are 8! But I'll be there someday soon and you'll have to give me some pointers! Have a superb day and maybe sometime we could hang out at the beach?!
Oh tell you Momma to send me a better photo when she get's a chance. I bet this tooth is already grown in right? :)
Hugs and love,
Katie

THE Park...Pullen Park in Downtown Raleigh

A few weekends ago we went down to see what "THE park" aka Pullen Park was all about. Boy, it was a treat! The reviews are correct, it is a little kids dream and easy on the parents pocket book too! All the rides are a dollar and give the kids a long ride. Katie love it all. She watched and observed every little one that walked by (it looked like someone kicked an ant hill there were so many little kids there), but she also enjoyed the swings, sand, carousel, train ride (in which Katie and I have funny faces :) and then the special treat of going to Whole Foods for lunch -with a cookie as dessert. This is definitely THE park. We WILL be going back. If you haven't tried it out...go for it. Katie LOVED it!

Sleep is a good thing.

I am going to in the next few days get my act together and blog about the roller coaster ride Katie is on when it comes to getting enough sleep. It has been two years of ups and downs that can be extreme. I want to journal about this so that my heart is right for our next little guy. He could be the same way and I want my attitude to be inline with the Lords!
