Nothing beats a...

FRESH STRAWBERRY!
Katie and I headed out to Vollmer farms in Bunn to pick and eat our fill of strawberries. WOW, nothing compares to that delicious taste. And this year Katie is a fantastic picker! She eats most of what she picks, but she only is picking the red ones. :) Way to go KK! After picking two FULL buckets we headed back to the market to have our packed lunch and a treat of their homemade strawberry ice cream. What a wonderful spring day.

Does it get any more servanthearted?

Melissa, one of our college girls, decided that she wanted to serve Justin and I and mow our property. It takes about 3-4 hours and it was incredibly sweet of her! I know that she loves this sort of thing, but to give up hours on a Saturday??? That type of service is awesome. She did have some minor set backs with getting the mower stuck on a corner, but nothing but that. :)
Thanks SO much Melissa for serving us. It is a WONDERFUL treat.

Food Poisoning

So yesterday I had the awful privilege of having food poisoning. It was truly a "do not want to experience again" experience.
I am about 15 weeks along and aggggg, yuck-it wasn't fun! I think I have narrowed it down to taking a bit of yogurt that I was about to feed Katie around lunch time as being the culprit. I remembered that I had taken the yogurt with us on a picnic and then it wasn't eaten. I had taken a small frozen icy to keep it cold, but it didn't work. I tasted it to be sure it was still okay, and after one bit, I thought, "I am not sure, I should throw this out." That was all I thought about it.

Then around 4 pm I started feeling bloated and a bit queasy. Things just got way worse from there. After doing some reading online, which one site called food poisoning, "becoming violently ill in 6-8 hours after eating something sour" I deduced (with Robin's help-thank you!) that that is what I had. It was a miserable night of throwing up, being in the bathroom and not sleeping, but like the site said, in about 18-24 hours you should feel better...and I do. I am still tired and my back/tummy hurts from throwing up, but I have made it!~
And the Lord was incredibly gracious to me today and Katie took a great nap. 2 hours and 15 minutes-I took one too :)
But note to self, food poisoning is horrible-especially while pregnant, but it would have been even more awful if I had given that yogurt to Katie. So Praise the Lord for his care and protection even in this!

I thought we had a mouse...

Instead we have an almost two year old that was hungry and into her own style of cooking!

watching Katie explore...

Katie and I met Justin for lunch last week at his office. We ate outside on the porch and then let Katie explore around. She was having a great time! Below are a few shots while she was exploring and explaining to us what she was doing. She's almost 23 months and growing up so quickly!

Christmas came in April...

For Christmas Justin told me he found a piano for our home. YESSSSSSSSSSS! Was all I could think! :)
But then that piano fell through. :( But two weeks ago the "piano man" called and said he was going to get another one and would we like his? Justin said, "absolutly"! So on Easter evening he went to pick it up. I LOVE it! I grew up playing and simply love the piano. I took many years of lessons-not all the lessons I liked-but I now wish I had taken more...isn't that the way it always is?

And now I am hopeful that Katie will someday learn to play it and also love it!

Thanks Love, It was and is a superb present!

We are excited.....

Katie got some "big girl" panties....she tried to put them ALL on at once while she also colored! ...time will tell how easy it is for her to be potty trained. Here's to (fingers crossed) an easy time. :)

It does help that her friends, Laney and Heather are already potty trained. And I'll be deep in prayer about stinky and tinkle for the next few weeks. Let the fun being!

Happy Birthday Anna!

Today was Anna's birthday! She wanted to celebrate at Little Caesar's and with a kombucha...yum!
We are SO glad that she is in our life right now. She is "precious". God is doing amazing things in her world and life and praise Him for His faithfulness to her.
Happy Birthday Friend. May the Lord give you many many more days to worship Him. :)
Love, The four Himes
PS Sorry in your cute photo with Katie she has a bit of wild hair!

Happy Easter...Praise the Lord, HE ROSE!

Here are a few photos that we took for Easter photos of our little bunny. :) She had a great time watching Justin dance behind me!

What a blessing children are from the Lord. He continues to show us through Katie's little thinking that this day is special! Things are different now that Jesus is ALIVE and sitting at the right Hand of our God.

Happy Easter ya'll
Love, The Four Himes

A Love Hate Relationship...free money can change minds

My sister LOVES Kohl's department store.

I HATE (probably more of a dislike) Kohl's department store.

Kohls is one of those stores that you can find great deals IF you dig through things and have mounds of time to spend to sort it all out. But as I am getting older, I don't want to spend this type of time! Plus I can't seem to find anything that fits well or I buy something and within the next 2 days the sale has gone down-so I go back and get a price adjustment-more time spent....to me the excitement of a sale at Kohls is not high. Kohls always has a sale...

But don't get me wrong, I love a good deal! And a good deal is what I found in the mail a few days ago. Kohls has just opened up a new store in Wake Forest and in the mail came a free $10 coupon towards almost anything! All I had to do was purchase something over $10...so off I went with Katie in tow. I was zoned in on some outfit to buy for her birthday and knew I wanted something plaid. And I found it! My feelings for kids clothes at Kohls are pretty good now. At least I'll consider venturing in there for an outfit or end of the season sale for little ones. And I can now say that my feelings towards Kohls are lukewarm. :) There you go sister Jessa.....free money changed my mind a bit!

katie's birthday outfit for $2.14!

Katie wants to go bye bye...

When asked where she would like to go this morning she replied, "Georgia" (the state).

So here's to all your Georgia dwellers...."Georgia is happy!"
