Katie talking to herself, while finishing up her dinner, talking to no one in particular...
"Once upon a time there was little boy named daddy who put the pretzels away. And I wanted some..."
Amazing what little ones put together.

A Walk Down Memory Lane
A few days ago we had the privilege of having two of our special college couple friends in our home. It was So Much Fun! These four people were with us at KSU during what Justin and I both think was one of the funnest and most spiritually encouraging times of our lives.
They both live in KS, but were traveling out here for a visit to the seminary and then off to the Outer Banks for a beach trip. Their little boys were dotted upon by Katie, who insisted on calling them, "babies" though they are 14-16 months old!
Emily and James, Katie and Derek. --We LOVED having you out here! We so wish we could see you more often, but what a special treat to get those days and nights to laugh, relive memories and to encourage each other. As often as we think of you we will be praying for all your decisions.

WOW, thanks Nana and Papa!
Nana and Papa, thank you SO much for sending this package, it was the highlight of the entire week! It even helped Katie eat her lunch a bit faster. :) You can tell Katie LOVED the purse, necklaces, braclets and shoes. I loved everything including the clothes this little one to come in just about 3 weeks-what great deals! Thanks for giving so generously to your grandkids here~!

Katie says, "worth a photo".
I guess katie knows that I take photos of anything worthy of remembering or maybe I simply take WAY to MANY photos....But katie thought her putting down all 8 of her babydolls and one teddy bear was memorable. :) "Say cheese babies!" said Katie. (which how can they say cheese if they are asleep and on their tummies...hehehe)
Stacking EVERYTHING
So...Katie loves to stack things. Today I told her to please put the toilet paper in the bath room. As I can around the corner this is what I saw. :) I think she had to stand on the potty to reach all the way up there, so besides be dangerous to stand up there, I thought this was pretty good!
We are also asking Katie to ASK before she knocks down towers that other people build. And today she asked, "Momma you ask me if you can knock this tower down, okay?"

I shouldn't have to say this...
SO...our NEW beautiful, nice refrigerator is broken! Four weeks and we have already had three Sears repair men out here to fix it!
I am going to ask for another one....uggggg!
In short-
Frig arrived, worked for one week, then started to make buzzing sounds. Repair man said, "Wow, your fan only has 3 out of the 5 blades! No wonder it is making noise." He then ordered the part which came in another week later.
While we waited for the new fan, Justin, rigged up with 9 pieces of string the old fan so the noise would not leave me deaf...yes, it was that loud!
New part was put in, but the repair man then had to add more insulation because the fan box was shaking a bit. "Didn't come with enough insulation," is what he told me.
Finally, our refrigerator is now making noises that are akin to a mouse scratching through our frig. I am sure it has to do with this fan part that was never installed correctly at the factory or the lack of insulation. He is supposed to come on Wednesday and fix it. We will see.
Again I am asking for a new refrigerator. Three fixes in four weeks? I think it is another lemon!

Jesus
Katie, "Momma, did you get an ouchy?"
Momma, "Yes, but Jesus is healing my wounds."
Katie, "No, Jesus is taking a shower."
Momma, "Why is he taking a shower?"
Katie, "He was on a run."
Where did she come up with this? I have no idea.
Jesus also hides under her blanket. So since Jesus can be everywhere I guess He is where ever Katie wants Him to be. We are working on her theology of Jesus being always present. :)

A Katie comment
Tonight at bedtime...
Katie, "Jesus is healing my bug bites."
Momma, "Yes, Katie He is!"
Katie, "Please Jesus don't heal my freckles, I want them."

A Book Blog-worth the time!
SO....I haven't had much time lately to find a good book to pass along, though I am reading a few, but I did just finish an electronic form of two great short books (actually pamphlet like) that I wanted to pass along. My good friend Robin found these on the web and so they are free!
*You could also order them for a few dollars from some sites...
They are penned by an old dead guy named J.C. Ryles back in the 1890's. They are a terrific reminder of home and kids-they have encourage me heart-and if you want them I will pass them along. Just let me know in a comment and I'll send you the link! (And if I can figure it out to post them, I'll do that soon)
Titles:
Secrets of Happy Home Life (8-10 pages printed)
The Duties of Parents (10-15 pages printed)
Happy fall reading!

This just seems 80's
Katie is becoming trender then me. She dressed herself today and with the velco high top nikes, pink pulled up socks, tie string shirt and mini skirt, I fear I have something to look out for as she gets older. Then with the fluffy, "crazy hair" as she says, she just pulled off the latest trend of 80's fashion. You go girl! ...we just need tight rolled jeans and some curled, hair sprayed, fan bangs!

35 weeks!
Finally I did it! Two projects down.
SO.....these two projects have been on my list for awhile.
The first one is a nursing cover. I should have done this while Katie was nursing, but didn't think about something like this. And now I have one for this little one! I followed a post from another blog and I have to say I am pleased how it turned out!
Second, this chair...I bought this from an OLD auction house. By OLD I mean if you drive by on a Friday night you would wonder how the red wooden house did not crumble with the two hundred local, country people that were inside. But as I was driving by one week I noticed this green chair outside and thought, hummm...I like that....maybe I can talk Justin into going with me to the auction and bidding on it. Then on a Wednesday I was going home and noticed that a santa clause type man was moving things into the building. I did a u-turn and went back to ask if the chair would be on auction this Friday. He said that it had been and he couldn't sell it. But with a huge smile he said, "I just might be willing to make a deal if there was someone interested in it." I was so excited! I ended up buying this cute chair for only $15! Then on top of that, I loaded into the Highlander and Katie stayed asleep in her chair. :)
Rest of the story...I took this chair apart slowly and since Justin didn't have much time to help it sat around our garage for 11 months. Then I didn't have the heart to finish this as I was nauses and in the early stages of pregnancy, plus I couldn't find the right fabric that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
Next...Justin this past month said, "either I finish it or he gets rid or it". He said this kindly so as to take something off my full plate. But I really wanted this chair, so with Melissa's (our college girl) offer to help I told him that if I didn't get it done in two weeks he could dispose of it all. And by this time it was all in pieces-could I finish it?
Two days later, off to errands I ran and I happened to find some cute girly fabric at Walmart of all places! I wanted to place it in Katie's room and below you can see the finished product. The final cost of my chair, 8 hours of labor and $30!! It took me two days and Justin helped me finish the screws and nails that I couldn't do and I am pleased with the turn out!

Singing in the Rain and LOVING it!
It has been a blessing to have rain all day! I even made a delicious cup of coffee this evening because as Justin said, it was just that type of wonderful day. :)
But the fun part for a two year old was dancing in the rain with her daddy. She stomped in every puddle and marched around like an elephant...Loving EVERY MINUTE of her time outside. I think they made a pretty special memory!
We here at the Hime house cannot wait for fall weather...and luckily it has been peeking its head out the last few days.

Downtown with friends!
We FINALLY got to hang out with Catie Beth and Robin. It has been way to long. :) But since we live on opposite sides of town it is sometimes difficult to meet up. Booo. But yesterday we had a great time at the Natural Science Museum and lunch at Carolina Bakery. The girls are about 6 months apart and hopefully will be great friends one day because Justin and I seriously love this family. Thanks for playing Robin and Catie Beth!
PS Thanks also to Carey B. for stopping by for lunch! Another treat we should do sometime soon again. :)
