Your thoughts?

Okay ladies, I need some thoughts from you...
I need to reschedule my life so that all of us are happier...
A few questions for you. Please answer if you have a second and a thought?

How long do your kids have room time each day?

When do you get ready for the day-shower etc?

When do you normally start dinner prep and when do you eat?

How much specific play time do you spend with your kiddos?

Thanks friends!

he doesn't. I read the book Raising Godly Tomatos and have recently stopped doing this. Instead Augustine goes where I go, but he helps me with tasks as I do it (i.e. washing clothes, making dinner, vacuuming, etc.)
When do you get ready for the day-shower etc? In the morning, either when Augustine takes a morning nap or I put toys in the shower room and let him play on the floor mat while I shower. Or sometimes I put him in the bath tub while I shower. I have heard a friend recommend having a book picnic on the bathroom floor mat while showering. Sometimes Shaun will watch Augustine in the morning for a quick 5-10 minute shower. Augustine enjoys watching me dry my hair and I usually make it a game.

When do you normally start dinner prep and when do you eat?
In the afternoon, I almost always make double to triple of everything and freeze it so we have a previously-made frozen dish at least once a week. Augustine is great with helping. He has a spoon and spatula or he will play with his toys on the floor. If I know it is a lot of prep work in which I will not be patient then I prep during his nap or the night before and put stuff in the fridge. If it has been a long day I make dinner at 5 when Shaun comes home and let him play with Augustine while I make dinner. Or sometimes if it is a really lazy day- I just ask Shaun to make dinner. We usually eat between 5 and 6pm.

How much specific play time do you spend with your kiddos?
It is hard to say. I usually play with him at the end of each of my chores and sometimes during. I vacuum, then play with him after I vacuum. I put clothes out on the line, then throw a few balls with him. I fold clothes, then play peekabo. Then when all my chores are done I will play music and sit on the floor with him for 20 minutes or so. Sometimes all my chores do not get accomplished.

That's my two cents for what it is worth

I'm interested to read others' answers to this! I definitely don't think we have it figured out yet, but here's what we do...

Room time: None. She takes a 2-3 hour nap every afternoon (usually around 12:30pm). I think room time is a neat idea, but we haven't implemented it yet, partly because we have so many other things going on (play dates, errands, chores, etc) that I want to be with her when I can.

Get ready: Either in the morning when Jacob's still home, or right after he leaves and we eat breakfast. If I do it later, Kate usually watches Seseme Street or a dvd while I get ready. At first that bothered me (and I do think she should be able to play by herself), but I've come to terms with one tv show a day if it helps our day be happy and more productive.

Dinner: I've decided I'm going to try to make 1-2 crockpot meals a week because those are the least stressful days around here. Soups are also great because I can throw it together when it's convenient and let it cook. If I don't make one of those things, I usually start cooking around 4:30pm, and make fairly simple meals most of the time. We eat around 6pm.

Play time: This is a good question. We rarely have hour-long stretches where we're playing together, but I definitely interact with Kate multiple times every hour for 5-10 minutes. She's not a big play-er and would rather be with me doing whatever I'm doing. I'm still figuring out what I think this time should "look" like!
